Image Metadata Privacy Review Checklist
Check image dimensions, file details, and metadata hints before publishing photos, screenshots, or support images.

Look beyond the visible image
An image file may include dimensions, camera information, capture time, editing software, thumbnails, and location-related EXIF fields. The visible photo is only one part of what might be shared.
Separate inspection from removal
A metadata viewer helps you see file details. It does not automatically remove metadata. If privacy-sensitive fields are present, use a dedicated image editor or metadata stripping tool before publishing.
Check screenshots and photos differently
Screenshots can reveal browser tabs, account names, file paths, and notifications. Camera photos may reveal location, device model, capture time, or surrounding context. Review both visible content and metadata before sharing.
Resize for the destination
Oversized images slow pages and support tickets. Check dimensions and file size before upload, then create a web-appropriate copy if the original is larger than needed.
Protect support evidence
When images are used in support tickets, keep an original copy if the exact evidence matters. Create a redacted copy for sharing externally so private fields and metadata are not distributed unnecessarily.
Retest after editing
Some editors remove metadata, some preserve it, and some add new software metadata. Inspect the final exported file, not only the original.
